Piercing care tips

Piercing care made easy - Important tips for healthy and beautiful piercings

The care of your piercing is about the same except for intimate and oral piercings. It is very important to only touch the ring or the plug with clean hands.

Even after washing your hands thoroughly, you should only touch the piercing jewelry by the balls. There are various ways to remove the crust that has formed on the jewelry:

  • Soak in the shower with water.
  • Spray with a suitable wound disinfectant (2nd Skin care product) and carefully loosen with clean fingers or even better with a lint-free cleaning cloth.

Next, apply some of the wound disinfectant to both sides of the pierced area and turn the ring or move the plug back and forth 4-5 times so that the wound disinfectant gets into the puncture canal and can take effect there.

Remains of the product can be removed with a clean paper towel. This should be repeated in the morning and in the evening or if the stitch is contaminated. We always recommend using 2nd Skin care products and not just any ointment or cream (as these often block the stitch channel). Above all, you should not use several products at the same time. The 2nd Skin care products are specially made for piercings and do not sting the wound at all.

The healed piercing should always be cleaned when showering. When washing, simply turn the jewelry back and forth and rinse thoroughly, as sweat and sebum can accumulate in the piercing canal.

In principle, a completely healed piercing should always be worn, as the stitch channel (depending on the pierced area) can close up within hours to such an extent that it is no longer possible to reinsert it without re-piercing.

Some tips for navel piercings

Under no circumstances should you wear belts with large buckles, as this will only irritate your piercing unnecessarily and, in the worst case, could cause it to be torn out. You should also avoid wearing tight pants, chafing clothing and tops that could catch on your piercing (e.g. lace or coarse mesh). Do not wear any loose clothing for the first few weeks, unless you cover your piercing with a plaster so that the piercing does not get dirty.

Some tips for tongue piercing

Tongue piercings are best treated with the 2nd Skin care product (please do not ingest!). You should rinse a lot with mineral water, which may also be chilled. We recommend that you observe the following within the first 48 hours after piercing:

  • Quit smoking (or keep consumption as low as possible).
  • Cool the piercing. For example, melt ice cubes in your mouth or rinse with cold water. This will counteract any swelling of the tongue.
  • Thoroughly rinse your mouth with water after every meal.
  • Do not eat or drink anything hot or very spicy.

If everything has healed well, you should not play around too much with your teeth on the metal jewelry, as this could lead to tooth damage in the worst case. If you have any questions, we will be happy to help you at any time.

Wound healing

The human skin

With an area of around two square meters, the skin is the largest organ in the human body and performs many functions. Our skin consists of three layers: epidermis, dermis and hypodermis.

What does pus mean

As the piercing pierces the skin's protective layer, this causes the body to produce additional phagocytes. This body's own defense mechanism destroys incoming microorganisms and transports them out of the body in pus.

This process is continued by the body until all bacteria have been destroyed and eliminated. Even after the wound has healed, some wound secretions may escape from the pierced area.

We are happy to answer any questions you may have.
