The septum piercing is one of the most traditional piercings of all and was already worn as jewelry by indigenous peoples in Africa, Asia and America.
In the western world, the septum piercing does not look back on a long tradition and was only increasingly pierced in the 1990s. Nowadays, the septum is one of the most popular piercings.
The septum piercing is not inserted through the cartilage, but through the connective tissue of the nasal septum.
Piercing details
Piercing type | Nose piercing |

Healing time | approx. 2 - 6 months |
Please note | If you have a freshly pierced septum and catch a cold or get dandruff, you should pay particular attention to thorough hygiene so that the stitch canal cannot become infected. If you want to or should hide your septum piercing, you can wear a septum retainer - a placeholder, so to speak. This is almost invisible and also prevents the stitch channel from growing over. A second option is a circular barbell (horseshoe piercing), which can simply be turned upwards. |
