The lobe piercing (also known as earlobe or earlobe piercing) is the classic piercing par excellence and undoubtedly the most commonly worn piercing of all. It has enjoyed great popularity for a long time and is worn by women, men and even children.
Unlike all other ear piercings, the earlobe (lobulus auricularis) does not consist of cartilage tissue and is almost always inserted through the middle of the earlobe.
The lobe piercing can look back on a rich history.
Until the early 1970s, the wearing of earrings or stud earrings was socially accepted exclusively among women. However, the Appenzell Alpine herdsmen from Switzerland were already an exception at that time. Their traditional costume includes a small, golden ladle as an earring, which is always worn on the right ear.
According to current data, almost 90% of all women worldwide adorn their earlobes with lobe piercings.
Piercing details
Piercing type | Ear piercing |

Healing time | approx. 2 - 4 weeks |
Please note | As is well known, there are two different ways to pierce an ear. Either by piercing, with a piercing needle (also called a hollow needle or disposable needle) or by shooting, with a spring-operated ear piercing gun. Lobe piercings can also be worn as double or triple lobe, depending on the anatomy. For a lobe piercing, we definitely recommend using a labret as the initial jewelry, as your piercing will heal more quickly compared to a ring as the initial jewelry. |
