The flat piercing (also known as the scapha or outer conch piercing) belongs to the family of ear cartilage piercings and is placed in the slightly larger flat area above the entrance to the ear.
The flat piercing owes its name to the place where it is placed. The English term flat means something like "flat".

| Please note | As the flat area offers a relatively large amount of space, this area is particularly suitable for attaching custom ear piercings (individual jewelry combinations). Flat piercings are only pierced with a needle and not with an ear piercing gun. A piercing needle (hollow needle) should generally take precedence over an ear piercing gun, as the cartilage tissue would be literally shattered by using one. With a fresh flat piercing, we recommend sleeping for a few nights so that no pressure is exerted on the piercing. Cartilage piercings, such as flat piercings, take a little longer to heal than other piercings. |
