The Eskimo piercing (also known as a vertical labret) is pierced vertically through the lower lip so that the upper end is on top and the lower end below the lip.
The origin of this piercing is said to have an amusing story. It is said that a piercing artist in training misjudged the placement of a labret so badly that a supposed mishap resulted in one of the most attractive lip piercings ever.
