Silver is completely unsuitable for the initial use of piercing jewelry! It can be used for already healed piercings if it really is 925 silver (sterling silver). Sterling silver consists of 925 parts silver and 75 parts copper. No problem for nickel allergy sufferers. However, there are also people with a silver allergy. Silver also tends to tarnish (even more so than gold) and may even turn black.
