Piercing FAQ
What to do about swelling after a tongue piercing?
To relieve the swelling of the tongue after piercing, you can suck ice cubes or drink ice water. During the first week, eating with a piercing in the tongue is somewhat more difficult, so hot, strongly spiced and solid foods should be avoided.
Also avoid spicy food, alcohol and cigarettes, as these could delay healing. Homemade ice cubes made from chamomile tea are particularly helpful as they reduce swelling and have a calming effect. The swelling usually subsides on its own after a few days.
