Tattoo FAQ

What is the difference between Traditional (Old School) and Neotraditional (New School) tattoo styles?

The main difference is that traditional (old school) tattoos tend to be kept simple and basic, just as it was possible with the means available at the time. Motifs such as ships, anchors, lighthouses, snakes, daggers, skulls, swallows, anchors and the like were often engraved.

In the neotraditional (new school) tattoo style, on the other hand, these traditional motifs are engraved almost realistically and combined with bright colors using all the tools of today's technology.

So if you prefer the tried-and-tested, traditional and somewhat spartan tattoo motifs, old school is right up your street. But if you like it more gaudy and detailed, you will definitely be happy with a neotraditional (new school) piece.
