Piercing FAQ

What are the advantages of Teflon piercing jewelry?

PTFE stands for polytetrafluoroethylene, also known as Teflon, and is a thermoplastic material that is ideal for piercing and the permanent wearing of piercing jewelry due to its excellent properties. PTFE has a very smooth and therefore slippery surface to which hardly any foreign substances (e.g. wound secretions during piercing) adhere. Aggressive chemicals do not attack PTFE. This is important, for example, when used in mucous membranes. In medicine, PTFE is often used for middle ear operations, as replacement blood vessels (veins) or even for small facial corrections.
