Tattoo FAQ

Is it possible to cover dark tattoos with light colors?

It is not possible to cover dark colors with light colors, even if this is sometimes claimed. It all looks very nice in the first few months, but after a while the old motif will reappear under the new one - even if it is covered ten times with a light color! Old colors can only be lightened to a limited extent.

You can only ever cover with the same, similar or darker colors. This means that everything that is already present in black must also be covered with black. You can also "mix" the color under the skin to a certain degree, i.e. if red is tattooed on green, a brownish hue is created, red on blue something purple, blue on yellow will appear greenish, etc.

A cover-up will not always be able to correspond 100% to your own wishes, as the creative power of over-tattooing is limited. The tattoo artist will therefore try as far as possible to incorporate the lines of the motif to be covered into the lines of the new motif so that it disappears into them.
